We’ve had an incredible last few months at Indwell, with so much happening across our programs as well as our future communities.
In addition to celebrating grand openings in Woodstock and London—where we now support 34 and 67 people respectively—we also continue to hear encouraging feedback from members of the community.
In the McQuesten neighbourhood in Hamilton, we’ve responded to this feedback with our new initiative called Gather Culinary Academy. Our first cohort of students has just begun week four of this 11-week course that provides people living in poverty with job skills training leading to paid employment. Partnering with the City of Hamilton and Compass Canada, these students are encouraging and supporting each other towards their goals while learning from local chefs and culinary experts. Yet another way we are putting our commercial kitchen at Parkdale Landing in Hamilton to good use.
As we continue to seek new partnerships and innovations, we rely on our communities for the prayers and the funds to not only create new affordable housing solutions, but to provide sustainability for our existing programs. We thank you for your prayers and your continued financial support.
To learn more about what’s happening at Indwell, be sure to follow us on social media. We also love to share our ministry with churches and other groups! If you are part of a group you’d like us to speak with, please send Thea an invite at tvoortman@indwell.ca.
I so appreciate your continued prayers for Indwell, and all those involved in creating our communities. At a groundbreaking celebration in June for a second building at Parkdale Landing in Hamilton, this was so evident. In addition to Indwell staff and tenants, there were so many others present: board members, church leaders, contractors and trades, donors, government staff, politicians, staff from other support agencies, neighbours, family members and media. We depend on each of you.
Thanking you again for your partnership!
