When you purchase a Hope & Homes Hamilton Bond, you will become an integral part of a collective effort to improve the lives of individuals and families who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness — often due to struggles with mental health and addiction.
Indwell is launching four new projects in Hamilton in 2024. We need investors like you to close the financing gap between purchasing the property and beginning construction. Your investment in Hope & Homes Hamilton will directly contribute to pre-development activities; architectural and engineering design, site assessment and remediation, and obtaining necessary permits and approvals. This vital funding ensures that we can move forward without delay, bringing these essential housing projects to life and creating tangible hope for our Hamilton neighbours.
Indwell is a Hamilton-based charity and the fastest-growing developer of new supportive affordable housing in Ontario. We house over 1,200 people across the province, providing safe, permanent homes and effective support programs. We are pleased to launch more much-needed housing in Hamilton, where we currently house 600 people. The stability of Indwell programs has proven effective, with 9 out of 10 tenants remaining with Indwell after their first year.
A community bond is a financing tool that allows individuals and organizations to invest in projects that have a positive social impact within their community, while also earning a financial return.

Investing in community bonds, like any other type of investment includes risk. However, Indwell is a financial healthy organization and is in good standing with all current financing and funding partners. Investors should be aware that due diligence, assessing the issuer’s financial health, understanding bond terms, and considering economic conditions are essential prior to investing in the community bond.
Principal dollar amounts will be held for the term of the bond ranging from three to five years. After the term expires, Indwell will pay back the principal capital to the lender and provide an opportunity to re-invest the principal for a new term.
The community bond is designed to provide a lower entrypoint for investors ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. There is currently no limit on the investment amount up until the $5M total campaign goal.
Our community bond is open to investment from all types of investors including non-accredited / accredited individuals, corporations and institutions. There is a residency requirement for individual investors as these individuals need to be Canadian citizens or have permenant residentcy status. All investors have to bank with a Canadian financial institution.
Indwell is managing the investment process internally with guidance by Tapestry Capital.
Indwell Community Homes has commissioned an independent legal opinion that Hope & Homes Hamilton Bonds (Series C) are qualified investments to be held in registered accounts under Regulation 4900(1)(j) of the Income Tax Act. However, it is up to the discretion of each institution to hold Community Bonds in a registered account on your behalf, and investors often find that their financial institution will not allow them to include privately issued securities such as these in their registered accounts.
Therefore, Indwell has developed a partnership with the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation (CWCF)’s Common Good Capital Program, whereby Community Bonds can be held there in RRSPs and TFSAs. You can open an account with CWCF, transfer funds from an existing RRSP or TFSA, or make a new contribution.

Indwell is a Hamilton-based Christian charity that has been supporting vulnerable adults dealing with mental health challenges for nearly 50 years. We are the fastest growing developer of new supportive affordable housing in Ontario. Indwell’s communities support over 1250 tenants in regions across Southern and Southwestern Ontario—with several projects currently under construction or pre-development. Indwell empowers tenants to achieve health and wellness goals, and to constructively engage with their communities.
Now more than ever, it is important that our tenants feel connected with others, even if they cannot be physically connected. Send a note of encouragement to be shared with our tenants who are feeling isolated at this time.
