Celebrating 1,000 Homes
Celebrate Indwell’s 1000 HOMES milestone with a tenant (or many tenants) by providing each with a gift bag containing treats and small household items they will receive as part of the festivities.
Elevate our gardening
Provide raised wheelchair accessible garden beds for tenants with limited mobility to grow herbs, veggies and flowers, and then enjoy eating and sharing their homegrown produce.
Perkins Centre in Hamilton (x4), Strathearne Suites in Hamilton (x2), Woodfield Gate in London (x2)
Sponsor a Crock-Pot Cooking Class
Tenants will cook together once a week for six weeks and bring home a crock-pot meal. Crock-pots and meal ingredients (supplemented by tenant contributions) will be provided. Upon completion of the class, the cooks will receive their own crock pot.
Furnish An Apartment
A furnished apartment will give a tenant a fresh start in their new home—a place where they can begin to experience health, wellness and belonging. Your gift will provide basic furnishings and outfit a kitchen for one apartment.
$2,500/Apartment. 32 apartments (40 total) at Thomas & Victoria Street in Streetsville/Mississauga, 27 apartments (45 total) at The Station in St. Thomas.
Share the joy of creativity and all the therapeutic benefits this brings. With your gift, Indwell will provide canvasses, paints, brushes, coloured pencils, beads, yarn and other supplies for art classes and craft programs.
Provide a Comfy Place to Sleep
In May 2022, Indwell began a new venture providing supportive housing to 80 people living in two buildings owned by Waterloo Region Housing. The local community has blessed the people living here with gifts of food and clothing. Some also require a bed. Your gift will provide a single bed and mattress with two storage boxes below.
20 total at Robert Kerr Manor in Cambridge and Weber Street Apartments in Waterloo
Grillin' and Chillin'
Good food, the company of friends, and relaxing outside together—barbecues are a valued part of part of Indwell’s summer programming. Provide BBQ grills for Caroline Apartments and Prinzen Flats so the tenants here can also enjoy these summer events.
Two BBQs: One for Caroline Apartments in Hamilton and one for Prinzen Flats in Hamilton
Fill the Pantry
Provide the essentials to outfit the new pantry at Dogwood Suites: flour, oats and rice; sugar, spice and everything nice (but no frogs, or snails or puppy dogs tails).
Bring on the Sound of Music
Woodfield Gate and Embassy Commons in London
Karaoke nights are popular with both tenants and staff. Enable the tenants in London to participate in the fun. On a more practical note, it would be beneficial to have a microphone and speaker for community gatherings and events (as well as for karaoke nights).
Provide Online Connections
Provide tenants with tablets for common areas, enabling them to meet virtually with their professional supports, stay connected with family and friends, and access information, entertainment, and news from the wider world.
For the programs that Indwell will be opening in 2023 at St. Mark’s Place in Kitchener (x2), Thomas & Victoria Street in Mississauga (x2), and The Station in St. Thomas (x2)
Let the Games Begin!
Help tenants enjoy the long days of summer together with a selection of outdoor games (Giant Connect, Ladder Toss, Giant Jenga, Cornhole, etc). A welcome addition for our summer BBQs.
Three total: The Oaks in Hamilton, Hambleton Hall in Simcoe, and Embassy Commons in London
Help Tenants Get Out and About
Lack of transportation can be a barrier to get to appointments and participate in community activities. Sometimes, a taxi ride is the only realistic way to get to a doctor’s office, clinic or hospital. In other cases, we’d like to go on a community outing that’s not accessible on regular transit hours and routes.
Funds a transportation allowance for the following programs: Dogwood Suites in Simcoe, Hambleton Hall in Simcoe, Robert Kerr Manor in Cambridge, Weber Street Apartments in Waterloo, Railway City Lofts in St. Thomas, Blossom Park Apartments & Townhomes in Woodstock, and Harvey Woods Lofts in Woodstock
Support Aging in Place
Contribute to keeping the Wentworth Program’s buildings safe for those experiencing balance, polypharmacy, muscle weakness or other mobility challenges as they age. In the past year, Indwell installed handrails and lever handles throughout the building. This project will add an automated accessible back door, ramp and landing for wheelchair and walker accessibility.
$7,800 of $15,600 for accessible back entrance at Wentworth Program in Hamilton
Give Where Needed Most
We need your help now, more than ever. The housing crisis is getting worse every day, and the number of deaths among people who are unhoused—from overdoses, injuries, lack of basic medical care, exposure to the elements, and more—continues to rise. Your giving will equip our programs and staff with the resources to support tenants on their journey toward wellness. This includes wraparound housing support tailored to the needs of every tenant.
