Affordable Housing Sector Leads Transition to Energy Efficient Construction in Oxford County

The first multi-residential unit building built in Woodstock to the Passive House standard for energy efficiency was among the recipients of a pre-election funding announcement this week.

Blossom Park is designed to reduce energy consumption through passive design and the use of energy efficient materials. It seeks to meet conservation goals outlined in the Future Oxford Community Sustainability Plan and be recognized as a leader in environmental action.

Affordable housing gets boost

The waiting list for affordable housing in London just got a little shorter.

Thanks to Indwell, a Hamilton-based affordable housing agency, 67 people struggling with mental health issues, homelessness or a disability will move into ready-made, one-bedroom downtown apartments Monday.

County partners with Indwell on Norfolk Inn

The possibility that the Norfolk Inn might revert to its flophouse past motivated some on Norfolk council this week to support a partnership with social housing provider Indwell.

The vote Tuesday in favour of Norfolk participating in the $8.5 million renovation was 5-4.
