How does Indwell fund new building projects?

Just as with Indwell’s programs, each project is unique, and each has its own funding mix. However, one thing that is consistent is that it starts with Indwell’s community of support  —  the individuals, businesses, faith communities, churches, family and community foundations and service clubs which contribute to the project. Generous donors provide about 15% of the project costs, which is the base of support that Indwell leverages to apply for federal, provincial, regional, and municipal government grants and financing.

The largest contributor to Indwell’s projects is the federal government through the National Housing Strategy, which is administered through programs of the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

In addition, Indwell also receives low-interest, long-term loans to cover project development costs from CMHC. Indwell’s supporters also provide Impact Loans, which Indwell uses to cover project readiness and pre-construction costs necessary to submit grant requests.

Send a note of encouragement

Now more than ever, it is important that our tenants feel connected with others, even if they cannot be physically connected. Send a note of encouragement to be shared with our tenants who are feeling isolated at this time.
