Cheque presentation to Indwell by TD Ready Commitment

Hamilton, Ontario – Members of the media are invited as TD Bank Group (TD), through TD Ready Commitment, presents Indwell with a cheque of $250,000 to support the launch of The Oaks, supportive housing for 108 people. This contribution is an important part of establishing this program of three buildings.

Today, Indwell received a donation through the TD Ready Commitment, the Bank’s corporate citizenship platform, to support the launch of The Oaks. The event was held at Indwell’s The Oaks, a community of three buildings and home to 108 people.

The Oaks is supportive housing to tenants in the 52-unit Heartwood Apartments at 247 East Ave N, The Dairy Lofts (43 units)—with a façade that reflects the original Royal Oak Dairy—at 225 East Ave N, and Ain-dah-ing at 219 East Ave N. Ain-dah-ing (pronounced “AH-da-ning”) is a retrofit of the historic stables building and home to 13 tenants as well as one of Indwell’s Indigenous partners, Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing.

A fourth building, Acorn Flats, on the south of the property, will have 23 apartments geared towards families, with construction set to begin as soon as further funding is secured. The City of Hamilton recently announced $2.3 million.

“We’re incredibly grateful for TD and their prioritization of supportive housing and facilitating new supportive housing in Hamilton and Mississauga,” says Jeff Neven, CEO at Indwell. “This gift ensures that tenants receive the support they need to successfully transition into permanent supportive housing they can afford.”
