You may have noticed an ad in the Brantford Expositor on Thursday, January 28 which suggests the County of Brant and Indwell have entered into a partnership to build seniors affordable housing at Russell Heights in St. George. While we have been exploring affordable housing solutions together, we do not have an agreement in place to move forward with this or any specific project.
Indwell is actively sharing our experiences with communities across southern Ontario as homelessness sadly becomes a visible reality everywhere. As such, we support conversations around how communities, including the City of Brantford and the County of Brant can support the needs of their residents. About a year ago, we were invited to sit on the Mayors’ Housing Partnerships Task Force and have been contributing there. We recognize the deep needs of vulnerable neighbours and the desire to offer permanent, effective solutions.
Should Indwell come to the point where we move forward in partnership with the County of Brant or the City of Brantford, we will certainly communicate with you as a local and valued part our ministry. If you have insights into opportunities, needs, or other background that could inform our conversations in these communities, please share those with us.
We know that Indwell’s success emerges from you, our supporting community, as your faith and love take shape through action on the complex challenges of our times.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or insights you may have.
Sincerely,
Jeff Neven
Executive Director
