To provide opportunities in which volunteers and residents of Indwell are involved in meaningful activities which enhance the programs provided and contribute to the well-being of the  individuals that we serve.

Music Volunteer (Hamilton)

 Volunteers will build meaningful relationships with tenants and residents through social programming and offer emotional and practical support to residents of Indwell’s supported affordable housing programs. 

Music Volunteer (Woodstock)

Woodstock

 Volunteers will build meaningful relationships with tenants and residents through social programming and offer emotional and practical support to residents of Indwell’s supported affordable housing programs. 

Hair Cutting and Esthetician (Woodstock)

Woodstock

The Hair Cutting and Esthetician Volunteer will provide simple haircuts and eyebrow trimming to tenants. The Esthetician will help with nail cutting and brow trimming. 

Friendly Visitor

Woodstock

 Volunteers will build meaningful relationships with tenants and residents through social programming and offer emotional and practical support to residents of Indwell’s supported affordable housing programs. This position requires volunteers to build a one-on-one relationship with tenants. 

One-on-One Recreational Activities volunteer

London

 Accompany a tenant weekly to and from (via a city bus) a recreational program at a local community centre.

Tea Time Facilitator (Rudy Hulst Commons)

Arts & Crafts (Perkins Centre)

Arts & Crafts Group

Volunteers will build meaningful relationships with tenants and residents through social programming and offer emotional and practical support to residents of Indwell’s supported affordable housing programs. This group will offer tenants the opportunity to bring their crafting projects to a common area and socialize with others. There is no specific format to this program.

Facilities Volunteer

Facilities volunteers assist our Facilities teams with various tasks on-site and around the buildings. Facilities volunteers will also create meaningful relationships with tenants through respectful interactions.

ongoing opportunities

A group support volunteer offers emotional and/or practical support to a group of Indwell tenants on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis in a variety of social and recreational activities, including tea-time, arts and crafts, exercise, cooking, baking, Bible study, worship, games, and music. Group support volunteers might also provide a service such as hair cutting or pet care.

An individual support volunteer offers emotional and/or practical support to an Indwell tenant on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Examples of individual support include meeting up for coffee, playing games, or walking to the store.

A meal support volunteer will help prepare and serve nutritious meals for an Indwell program. This position is ideal for individuals or small groups.

A facilities volunteer will assist the infrastructure team in the ongoing maintenance of Indwell facilities. This may include plumbing, electrical, appliance repairs, painting, cleaning, and construction on occasion.

One-time group projects include things like community meals, apartment upkeep, painting, and gardening. This is a great opportunity for churches, small groups, and classes looking to engage in meaningful work and learn about affordable housing in their communities.

Indwell partners with corporations who wish to engage their staff members in a community building project. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience serving one of Indwell’s supported affordable housing programs.

FAQ's

Ongoing positions vary from two hours per week to two hours per month. Some activities may be scheduled during the day while others may be scheduled in the evening or on weekends. We will do our best to help you find a position that fits your schedule.

Absolutely! Volunteer groups offer regular social and recreational programming, such as community meals and games nights. One-time projects are also a great option for those looking to engage in meaningful work and give back to the community.

Police check requirements will be discussed at an interview, as they may vary depending on your volunteer placement.

In your role, you will gain valuable skills and form new relationships with staff, tenants and other volunteers. One-time projects and corporate volunteering are also great opportunities for team-building.
